Sophia Grojsman created Yvresse, which is a lovely fruity
chypre that definitely calls to mind Champagne.
Top notes: nectarine, anise, mint, violet, and a grain of
cumin;
Heart notes: otto rose, blue rose, and lychee;
Base: oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver, and vanilla.
Yvresse opens with a burst of wine-y nectarine. After a few
minutes, the fruity intensity fades and a minty note appears. Later, the rose joins the nectarine and you
begin to smell Yvresse’s chypre base. Yvresse has excellent longevity and it
becomes drier and more complex and interesting as the hours go on.
Yvresse was originally called “Champagne” but Yves Saint Laurent was forced
to change the name – they chose Yvresse and it seems to suit the fragrance
perfectly.
